3 healthcare jobs that pay over $200,000
It’s a beautiful day to save lives 🏥
Hey! Good morning to everyone except Sweetgreen, which allegedly stole a creator’s apparel idea after it was pitched to them in 2023. 👎
As the original designer said: “For a company that does almost $700 million in sales, you can afford to do the right thing and not steal our ideas without compensation.”
What's your POV on this Sweetgreen situation? 🥗 |
3 Healthcare Jobs That Pay Over $200,000
For many healthcare professionals, their job isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. Their commitment to caring for others drives them through years of education, grueling hours, and emotional challenges.
With lives in their hands (and mountains of student debt on their shoulders 🙃) their compensation is well-deserved. And in some roles? Salaries can soar past half a million dollars.
If you’re looking for a career that pays well and impacts people’s lives, you’re in the right place. We dug into our salary database and more resources to surface the three top-earning jobs in healthcare:
Oncologist
Nearly 41% of Americans will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Enter oncologists—specialists who guide cancer patients through every stage, from diagnosis to treatment to follow-up care.
But their role goes beyond patient care. Many oncologists also research cancer to develop new treatments and, ultimately, cures. Their mission? To turn that 41% into 0%.
Median salary: $239,200
Highest salary in our salary database: $525,000
Education: Doctoral or professional degree
Emergency Medicine Physician
From life-threatening injuries to surprise baby deliveries, no two days in the emergency room are the same—and it’s emergency medicine physicians who provide the immediate medical care for whatever comes through the doors.
To handle the variety of conditions they’ll see in the emergency room, emergency medicine physicians undergo three to four years of residency training. While the job pays great, residency doesn’t always: One second-year resident we interviewed earns $66,000 a year.
Median salary: $239,200
Highest salary in our salary database: $475,000
Education: Doctoral or professional degree
Anesthesiologist
Anesthesiologists 🤝 Sound surgical slumber. These specialists ensure patients are safely asleep during medical procedures and manage pain before, during, and after.
Their expertise spans beyond the operating room—they also work in labor and delivery units, intensive care units, and pain management clinics.
With a median salary of over $200,000, anesthesiology offers serious earning potential. In fact, we met a cardiac anesthesiologist who earns up to $700,000 a year all while being an active, present father to his four kids.
Median salary: $239,200
Highest salary in our salary database: $450,000
Education: Doctoral or professional degree

In this episode of Two Cents, James and I share our $605,000 home-buying journey. 🏡 And let’s just say…it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing.
From possibly paying $300,000 over our home’s value to discovering our house is sinking (yes, really), we’re giving you the full story.
Thinking of buying a home? You’ll want to watch this first:
NYC bans brokers' fees. 🗽 Despite backlash from NYC's real estate lobby (are we surprised?) renters no longer have to pay hefty commissions—a huge relief with NYC move-in costs averaging $13,000.
Buh-bye, captive meetings. 👋 The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) banned employers from organizing mandatory meetings to discourage unionization.
The ‘Cick-to-Cancel’ rule just got stronger. 💪The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will enforce the ‘Click-to-Cancel’ rule—ensuring that companies that make canceling subscriptions difficult (*cough* Adobe cough) are held accountable.
9,600 Michigan nurses join the Teamsters union. 🧑⚕️ Corewell Health Southeast Michigan hospitals, despite waging “one of the most expensive and aggressive union-busting campaigns ever seen,” are now required to bargain in good faith with the union.
